CALL FOR RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP

The GlobalGoals Project at Utrecht University is hiring one or two research fellows for its final project phase. The researchers will work with the project team to conduct cross-country comparative analyses and national-level case studies to formulate proposals for differentiating and dynamizing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), among other possible reforms for enhancing the global governance of sustainability. In addition, the researchers will interact and contribute to other research being carried out on cross-cutting themes, such as the role of youth, courts, and international organizations in the future of sustainability governance. The studies should look at how political, institutional, economic, and environmental factors influence the effectiveness of the SDGs using qualitative and/or quantitative methods.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Political Science, International Relations, Geography, Sustainability Sciences, or other related areas.
  • Solid training in qualitative and/or quantitative methods, case studies, and cross-country comparative analysis.
  • English C2. Dutch language skills are not required.

OTHER DESIRABLE SKILLS

  • Research experience with sustainable development, global governance, and SDGs
  • Experience with publications in relevant international scientific journals;
  • Fluent command of other official languages of the UN system;
  • Skills in data analysis using R programming language, NVivo, and Excel.

CONTRACT TYPE

Project Consultant. Remote work is possible for parts of the contract duration. This position does not constitute formal employment with Utrecht University.

End of Contract: 31 December 2024

Starting Date: The contract assignment will be agreed as soon as possible.
