Anne Luijten is a graduate of the Utrecht University MSc Sustainable Development, Earth System Governance track. For her thesis she researched SDG 10: reduced inequality. The research is threefold. The first part consists of a negotiation analysis: through discourse network analysis she looks at the actors, conflicts, and coalitions that resulted in the inclusion of this goal in the SDGs. Secondly, she performs a regression analysis comparing country development level with progress on SDG 10. Lastly, she uses the Netherlands as a case-study to research which policies have been put in place specifically to achieve this goal, in this way assessing the steering effects of SDG 10.
